North East India is a land of Blue Mountains, green valleys, and red rivers. Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, this region is abundant in natural beauty, wildlife, flora and fauna, and its colorful people. A blend of all these makes it one of the most beautiful eco-tourism destinations in South Asia.
Virtually unexplored, the North-East offers distinct opportunities in almost all major areas of tourism such as adventure, eco-tourism, wildlife, wellness tourism, tea tourism, pilgrimage and culture tourism.
A number of tourism development projects funded by various central ministries and state governments are in various stages of implementation. Apart from Ministry of Tourism, the North Eastern Council is also funding a number of tourism projects in the region. Over and above the existing projects, certain steps need to be taken to enhance the sector further, and this Seminar focuses on these key issues for developing a sustainable Tourism roadmap for North East.
